Blaze the Cat is a major character in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.
She is the ruler of an unnamed, alternate dimension and the guardian of the Sol Emeralds. Possessing pyrokinetic abilities, Blaze grew up isolating herself from others out of fear of accidentally burning them. Upon discovering that the Sol Emeralds have been stolen by her nemesis, Eggman Nega, Blaze follows him to Sonic's world. There, she is befriended by Cream the Rabbit as she searches for the Sol Emeralds, bringing her into conflict with both Dr. Eggman and Sonic himself.
She has been voiced by Nao Takamori in the Japanese version, and by Bella Hudson between 2005 and 2010 who also voiced Wave the Swallow, Laura Bailey between 2010 and 2016 and Erica Lindbeck since 2019 in the English version who also voices Omochao in the same series. But in The Wonderful World of Toons, she was currently voiced by Alfre Woodard.

Base Info[]
Visualized as an anthropomorphic cat, Blaze is a princess from an alternate universe to Sonic's. In her home dimension, she is not only royalty, but also charged as guardian of the Sol Emeralds. Her role is similar to that of Sonic or Knuckles's duties looking after the Chaos Emeralds. Initially, Blaze arrived in Sonic's world due to the machinations of Eggman Nega - her own realty's answer to Dr. Robotnik. With Blaze's arrival in Sonic's world, she teams up with the blue hedgehog to undo the dimensional distortions that brought her there in the first place and continue to put both universes in jeopardy.
History[]
Sonic Rush[]
She made her debut in this game, where she was teleported to an alternate dimension. When she awakens from her sleep, she realizes that she is in another world, and the Sol Emeralds she was guarding suddenly vanished resulting in her world being in danger without them. However, the Sol Emeralds were taken by Dr. Eggman, and to reclaim them she needed to defeat him. Later, she manages to defeat him and reclaim the emeralds though Eggman may have escaped, she was still determined to get all emeralds back.
Later, her and Sonic have a duel, but eventually come to an understanding thanks to Sonic and Cream's words of wisdom. She helps Sonic defeat both Eggman and Eggman Nega (her universe's version of Eggman) to return home. She tells Sonic that she has to protect the Sol Emeralds, and Sonic reassures her that Cream will miss her and will see her again soon.
Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)[]
Blaze appears along with Silver the Hedgehog in the future timeline, then after a while, she sacrifices herself to seal Iblis in another dimension.
Powers and abilities[]
Blaze is pyrokinetic, able to create and manipulate fire in any way she pleases. Like most in the series she has substantial speed, though not quite as fast as Sonic she still moves as super-speeds far faster than normal creatures. Blaze is an adept martial artist, though no supreme master, her honed form, adaptive special awareness and high speed make her a serious threat to opponents in melee range of her opponents.
Personality[]
Blaze is usually calm to the point of elegance. She is reserves and encourages emotional discipline in those around her. Blaze's detachment from emotion has led her to become somewhat aloof and unsocial. However, this has only gone on to accentuate how important those that are social with her are to her. The brash attitude of Sonic or perky demeanor of Cream the Rabbit remains at odds with Blaze and she has trouble relating to any of the more flippant cast even while viewing them as allies.
Appearance[]
Blaze is a lavender-furred, anthropomorphic cat with gold eyes. Her muzzle is white, her inner ears are peach colored and the tip of her long tail dark purple. Her fur is longer on each side of her head and sweeps slightly upwards. She has four plumes of "hair" done up in a high ponytail with dark purple tips.
For attire, she wears a long purple flared mantle-like coat of sorts with a dark pink hemline, white tights, a gold collar, a red hairband and a similarly red gem on her forehead. She also wears white gloves with fuzzy cuffs and high heeled dark pink shoes with white stripes and also fuzzy cuffs.
